In the s-paw-tlight
Happy 19 years to Paradise Pet Lodge!
This Memorial Day weekend will mark our 19th anniversary!
Our now sprawling 13 acre facility started as two kennel buildings and
two staff members, and each year has grown into the place your pets love
today. Libby, the president, had the love and devotion to animals; Brian,
her husband, had the construction background and the desire to create.
Throughout the years the buildings have grown a little larger, the paint
is a little fresher and the list of pampering services longer, but the
same heart and compassion that opened the doors in 1990 still remain
today.
Libby smiles as she recalls our very first day, "the chain link
hadn't arrived yet. We were giving customers tours and asking them to use
their imagination in picturing what the kennels would look like once the
fencing arrived." The chain link arrived a few days past schedule,
and from our first day on, we have never been without dogs at the
facility. Libby remembers, "I always thought there would be a day or
a week here and there, where no one would be staying with us; but there
have always been tails wagging."

HERE COMES THE SUN!
As the warmer months are slowly approaching, now is the
time to get your pet prepped. Here are a few tips to help ensure that
your pets enjoy a safe and fun summer!
If you plan on traveling in the car with your pet it is a good idea to
keep a few spare bottles of water, and a bowl, to help avoid dehydration.
It is also a good idea for your pet to always wear a collar when
traveling; you never know when a curious pooch will make a break for it,
and identification is key for a safe return.
Pack a small "first-aid" kit for your pet to take with you if
you go hiking, or camping. Include things like Neosporin, good for most
small cuts and abrasions, Benedryl if your dog has a chance encounter
with an angry bee, and a few tabs of aspirin just in case a knee gets
twisted or a shoulder inflamed. Please be sure to check with your vet
before giving any kind of over the counter medications.
Have a vacation planned around water? Now is the time to get a life
jacket designed especially for your pet. Life jackets are a good idea to
have, even if your pet knows how to swim. Most are even fitted with a
handle on the back, making it easy to rescue a pet who may be in
distress, or one who is just too lazy to swim to shore.

NEW PLACES TO SNIFF!
9 acres of grass and fields at Magnuson Park in Seattle,
and its kid friendly too! It is one of the only local off-leash dog parks
that feature beach and water access!
Take a stroll through the gardens at Molbak's in Woodinville. Plenty of
photo-op's available in the blooming green houses and outdoor garden
displays. Dogs must be well-behaved and on a leash.
Watch out for that flying fish! Many public markets and farmers markets
are not pet friendly; Pike Place Market in Seattle changes that. Join the
9 million people per year that wander through Pike Place, and take in the
sights. Pike Place also offers 3 "pup and you" bistros.
